Airborne Maritime Fixed Joint Tactical Radio System

Airborne Maritime Fixed Joint Tactical Radio System (AMF JTRS) is one of five DoD programs charged with producing a family of software-defined radios capable of interoperating with U.S., allied and coalition forces' legacy radios, as well as with all JTRS radios.

While other programs are geared to produce handheld or vehicle-mounted variants, the AMF JTRS program specifically produces radios for airborne and maritime platforms and fixed ground sites. Moreover, the AMF JTRS team is developing a system capability to network-enable air, sea and fixed sites and to provide communications automation from the cockpit to the radio room. The team provides a system capability approach of which the Joint Tactical Radio is one key element.

BAE Systems is a key member of the Lockheed Martin-led AMF JTRS team and is working closely with teammates General Dynamics, Raytheon and Northrop Grumman during the ongoing SDD phase. The SDD phase consists of critical design, prototype and engineering development model fabrication, initial testing and certification, as well as options for low rate initial production.

BAE Systems is supporting the program with its JTRS systems engineering and integration expertise, including hardware and software, waveform development, porting knowledge, modeling and simulation, advanced tactical networking, information assurance, legacy ship radio room knowledge and virtual radio room technology.

The AMF JTRS program will provide a fully integrated Joint Tactical Radio System to U.S. Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps and Army elements.
