NULKA Active Missile Decoy

The NULKA Active Missile Decoy is an active off-board, radio guided decoy. The NULKA provides warships with a highly effective all-weather defense against modern anti-ship missiles. With a unique hovering capability, NULKA's state of the art decoy technology attracts incoming missiles away from the ship target.

The NULKA is launched by the ship under attack, and the payload decoys the threat missile as the NULKA flight vehicle follows a controlled flight path away from the ship. Some of the systems key features include:

  • Simultaneous use against multiple anti-ship missiles
  • A rapid defense response with only minimal threat data
  • State-of-the-art touch screen panels
  • Fast reaction time
  • In-flight maneuvering capability
  • Dual-function canisters which act as life-time airtight sealed storage containers as well as launch tubes
  • Lightweight fixed design launchers

The NULKA is currently in use aboard the U.S. Navy's DDG-51, CG-47, LPD-17 and has been mandated to go aboard the U.S. Navy's new DDG 1000 destroyer. The Royal Australian Navy has the NULKA aboard its FFG-F and ANZAC Frigates. Lastly, the system is aboard the Canadian Navy's Iroquois DDG.
