Virtual Radio Room (VRR)

The Virtual Radio Room, a suite of integrated software applications, provides an interactive, navigable environment to explore external communications systems. It provides "views" of the ship and the communications systems and enables the user to view configurations both external and internal to the ship and view system configurations with functional block diagrams and technical data.

The application serves as a basic platform and system configuration management tool.

One of the advanced features of VRR is the "Platform Configurator" function that enables the user to "virtualize" potential system modifications, upgrades and retrofits on the selected platform. This functionality is similar to commercial product websites that allow customers shopping for a PC, for example, to select among a number of configuration options, resulting in a desired configuration and price.

Because the users of VRR are government customers on shipboard C4I integration programs, the Platform Configurator function provides customers additional insight when they're planning for communications upgrades. It enables them to assess arrangement feasibility, platform impacts and system and installation costs as a function of capabilities selected.
